Top task in center automatically displays your highest-priority task in the center of your dashboard, helping you stay focused on one task at a time. As you complete tasks, the next one is ready to keep your momentum going.
Top task in center works with Tasks :momentum-tasks: and supported task integrations, including Asana, Todoist, Trello, Microsoft To Do, GitHub, Google Tasks, ClickUp, and Basecamp.

Staying focused shouldn't mean constantly opening your task list or guessing what to work on next. Keeping your highest-priority task front and center on your Momentum dashboard gives you immediate clarity so you can execute without distraction.
Turn Top task in center on or off
To turn it on or off:
- Open Tasks :momentum-tasks: from the bottom right of your dashboard.
- Click the ••• menu in the top right.
- Select Show top task in center to turn it on, or Hide top task in center to turn it off.
The menu option always shows the action you can take next. If Top task in center is already on, you'll see Hide top task in center. If it's off, you'll see Show top task in center.
Choose which task list appears in the center
Top task in center displays the highest-priority task from your active list. However, how switching lists works depends on whether you are using Momentum Tasks or an integrated task provider:
For Momentum Tasks :momentum-tasks:
You have complete control over when your center focus shifts. Each time you switch to a different Momentum task list and want its top task in the center, simply set it as your active list:
- Open Tasks.
- In the sidebar, select the task list you want to switch to.
- Click the ••• menu in the top right.
- Select Show top task in center to set it as the active center list.
For Task Integrations :puzzle: (e.g., Google Tasks, Todoist, Asana):
- Open Tasks.
- Switch to any list within your connected integration.
- The topmost task from that newly selected list will automatically display in the center of your dashboard.
Use Top task in center with task integrations
If you use a supported task integration, you can display tasks from that integration in the center of your dashboard.
- Click the current list name at the top left.
- Select the integration you want to use.
- Click the ••• menu in the top right.
- Select Show top task in center.
Your active integration becomes the source for Top task in center, and switching between lists within an integration automatically updates the task in the center.
Reorder your tasks
Top task in center displays the first task in your active list. Organizing your tasks lets you control which task appears next.
To reorder tasks:
- Click and hold a task.
- Drag it up or down the list.
- Release to drop it into place.
💡 Tip: Spend a few moments arranging your priorities at the start of your day. Setting your task order upfront keeps your workflow automatic, so as you complete each task, your next priority appears seamlessly without interrupting your flow.
Troubleshooting
My top task isn't showing
If your top task doesn't appear in the center:
- Make sure Show top task in center is enabled.
- Confirm your active task list contains at least one incomplete task.
- If you're using an integration, make sure it's connected and selected as your active list.
- If you're using Momentum Tasks, ensure you've manually selected Show top task in center for your current list.
