Top task in center automatically displays your highest-priority task in the center of your dashboard, helping you stay focused on one task at a time. As you complete tasks, the next one is ready to keep your momentum going.
Top task in center works with Tasks and supported task integrations, including Asana, Todoist, Trello, Microsoft To Do, GitHub, Google Tasks, Bitbucket, and Basecamp.
💡 Note: Top task in center was previously called Autofocus. If you're looking for Autofocus, you're in the right place, it's now called Top task in center.
💡 Why use Top task in center?
Keeping your most important task front and center helps you stay focused without constantly opening your task list or deciding what to work on next.
Turn Top task in center on or off
To turn it on or off:
- Open Tasks from the bottom right of your dashboard.
- Click the ••• menu in the top right.
- Select Show top task in center to turn it on, or Hide top task in center to turn it off.
The menu option always shows the action you can take next. If Top task in center is already on, you'll see Hide top task in center. If it's off, you'll see Show top task in center.
Choose which task list appears in the center
Top task in center always displays the top item from your active task list, so you can point it at whichever list matters most right now.
To change which list it shows:
- Open Tasks.
- In the sidebar, select the task list you want to make active.
- Click the ••• menu in the top right.
- Select Show top task in center.
The list you selected becomes your active list, and its top task now appears in the center of your dashboard.
Use Top task in center with Task integrations
If you use a supported task integration, you can display tasks from that integration in the center of your dashboard.
- Open Tasks.
- Click the current list name at the top left.
- Select the integration you want to use.
Your active integration becomes the source for Top task in center.
Reorder your tasks
Top task in center displays the first task in your active list. Organizing your tasks lets you control which task appears next.
To reorder tasks:
- Open Tasks.
- Click and hold a task.
- Drag it up or down the list.
- Release to drop it into place.
💡 Tip: Spend a few moments organizing your priorities at the start of the day. As you complete tasks, the next one will automatically appear in the center of your dashboard.
Troubleshooting
My top task isn't showing
If your top task doesn't appear in the center:
- Make sure Show top task in center is enabled.
- Confirm your active task list contains at least one incomplete task.
- If you're using an integration, make sure it's connected and selected as your active list.
