Focus Stats :momentum-focus-stats: shows how much time you've spent focused, right on your Momentum dashboard. It adds up the time you spend in Focus Mode and with your focus timers, then turns it into a daily total, a weekly chart, and a history you can look back on.
💡 Why use Focus Stats? It's easy to lose track of how much deep work you actually do. Focus Stats keeps that count for you, in the same tab you already open, so you can see your totals grow and build a focus habit. There's no separate tracking app to check.
Focus Stats is on by default, so it's ready as soon as you start focusing. You'll find it in the top-right corner of your dashboard.
Today's total
Your focus total lives in the top-right corner of your dashboard, in the Focused Today widget. It shows how long you've focused so far today, like 1h 30m. Before you've focused, it shows a dash.
If you've set a focused time goal, a progress ring wraps around the widget on the days your goal applies, so you can see how close you are to today's target.
The stats panel
Click the Focused Today widget to open the Focus Stats panel. This is where your chart, totals, and history live.
At the top you'll see:
- A chart of how many minutes you focused each day, with a heading like 2h 15m focused for the period you're viewing.
- A timeframe you can change. Click the timeframe label (for example This week) to switch between This week, This month, Last 7 days, Last 14 days, and Last 30 days.
Below the chart, three tiles sum up the same period:
- Tasks: how many tasks you completed.
- Timers: how many focus timers you finished.
- Resisted: how many times you stayed away from a site you've blocked with Site Blocker. This tile is available on Chrome and other Chromium browsers.
To jump straight into a session, click Focus :momentum-focus-mode: at the top of the panel. This starts Focus Mode.
Note: The Tasks tile counts tasks from Momentum's own Tasks. If your tasks come from an outside integration, this tile shows a short note in place of a count.
Set a goal
A daily goal gives your focus time a target to aim for. Once you set one, Momentum shows your progress on the Focused Today widget and marks the days you hit it on your chart.
To set a goal:
- Open your Focus Stats panel.
- Click the options menu :ellipsis: at the top of the panel.
- Click Focused time goal to switch the goal on.
- Click Edit focused time goal.
- Enter your Minutes (from 1 to 480) and choose the Days you want the goal to apply.
- Click Save.
Your chart will now show a Goal marker, with a checkmark on each day you reach it. When you hit your goal during a focus session, you'll see a Focus Goal completed! celebration.
To turn the goal off later, open the options menu :ellipsis: again and click Focused time goal.
History
The Focus History view lets you look back month by month.
- Open your Focus Stats panel.
- Click History.
Use the arrows to move between months. Each month shows your total focused time and the same Tasks, Timers, and Resisted tiles for that month.
Below that, you'll see a list of every day, with the minutes you focused. To fix a day that looks off, click its minutes and type a new number. This is handy if you focused away from Momentum and want your history to stay accurate.
Team leaderboard
👥 Momentum Team Exclusive
If you're on a Momentum Team, your Focus Stats panel can include a Leaderboard so your team can compare focus time and stay motivated together.
When it's available, a Me and Leaderboard switch appears at the top of the panel. The leaderboard lists each member with their Today and Week focus totals, and you can sort by clicking a column heading. Your own row is highlighted.
The leaderboard is off unless a team admin turns it on. Admins can set who sees it in Settings :settings-2: → Team → Member permissions, under Focus leaderboard:
- Everyone: all team members can see the leaderboard.
- Admin: only admins can see it.
- Hidden: no one can see it.
Show or hide the widget
Focus Stats is on by default, so most people never need to touch this. If you'd rather hide the Focused Today widget, you can turn it off in two places:
- Open Settings :settings-2: → General, find Focus Stats under Apps, and switch it off.
- Or open Settings :settings-2: → Focus Mode, find Focus Stats under Make focusing a habit, and switch it off.
Turn the same toggle back on to bring the widget back.
Note: Focus Stats isn't available on mobile.
FAQs
:::faq
Q: Is Focus Stats a Plus feature?
A: No. Focus Stats is free for everyone, including people just trying Momentum before they sign up. Your focus time is tracked whether you're on the Standard plan or Momentum Plus.
Q: How does Focus Stats know how long I focused?
A: It counts the time you spend in Focus Mode and with your focus timers, like the Pomodoro and Countup timers. The more you focus with Momentum, the more your stats fill in.
Q: Why is my Tasks count empty or showing a note?
A: The Tasks tile counts tasks from Momentum's own Tasks. If you use an outside task integration, completed-task counts aren't available yet, so you'll see a short note instead.
Q: What does the Resisted tile mean?
A: It counts how many times you stayed away from a website you've blocked with Site Blocker. It's available on Chrome and other Chromium browsers.
Q: Can I fix a day's focus time?
A: Yes. Open History, click the minutes next to any day, and type a new number. This is useful if you focused away from Momentum.
