Block distracting websites with Site Blocker
With the whole internet just a click away, staying focused can be tough. Site Blocker adds an extra layer of protection by blocking distracting websites during your Focus Mode sessions, or anytime, if you prefer manual control.
Introducing Site Blocker

Site Blocker helps you stay on task by blocking access to specific websites while you focus. It’s designed to reduce temptation, gently interrupt autopilot habits, and create a space for mindful choices, right when it matters most.
You can use Site Blocker:
- With Focus Mode (available on standard plan for 1 hour/day) sites are blocked automatically when a session starts
- As a standalone tool (Momentum Plus) block sites anytime, even outside of Focus Mode
Blocking websites
You can use Site Blocker in two ways: inside Focus Mode or as a standalone tool (Plus feature).
Using Site Blocker with Focus Mode
Site Blocker will automatically activate whenever you start a Focus session. To make sure Site Blocker works while you’re in Focus Mode:
- Go to Settings > Focus Mode > Site Blocker.
- Make sure the Site Blocker toggle is ON.
You’ll see a small reminder banner under Site Blocker during the first 5 minutes. You can disable Site Blocker or remove blocked sites. After that, you’ll only be able to add or remove sites from your list.
💡 Standard plan users can use Focus Mode (and Site Blocker) for up to 1 hour per day .
Using Site Blocker as a standalone tool (Plus only)
If you’re on Momentum Plus, you can block sites anytime, even without starting Focus Mode.
From your dashboard:
- Click the Site Blocker icon on the left side of your screen.
- Click Start Blocking Websites to begin.
Perfect for when you just want to remove distractions on demand, no timer needed.
Customizing block lists
Make Site Blocker work for you by customizing what gets blocked.
To add or organize blocked sites:
- Open Site Blocker.
- Choose a category like Social Media, News, or Entertainment.
- To create your own category, click + at the top right.
- Click into a category and select + Add Site.
- Enter the URL (for example,
instagram.com) and give it a name. - ✅ You don’t need to include
wwworhttps://. - ✅ All URLs under the same domain will be blocked, for example, blocking
instagram.comalso blocksinstagram.com/login.
To allow a site again, just uncheck it from the list before your next focus session.
What you'll see when a site is blocked

When you try to open a blocked site, Site Blocker shows a grayscale intervention screen designed to help you pause and reset.
This screen shows:
- Your current task or intention to remind you of your focus.
- Your resistance streak a tracker of how many times you’ve resisted distractions. This helps you visualize how consistently you’re staying focused during your sessions.
From here, you can:
- Return to Momentum or close the tab to refocus.
- Continue to the site if you’d like. A brief pause-and-breathe step (inhale + exhale) gives you a moment to reconsider. Your resistance streak resets only once you proceed to the website.

🎯 The low-color, minimal design reduces stimulation and makes it easier to stay focused.
Site Blocker on Safari
Safari requires a couple of additional settings to be adjusted. Without these permissions enabled, Site Blocker may not be able to properly intercept and block websites.
1.Turn off cross-site tracking prevention

- Open Safari Settings
- Go to Privacy
- Turn OFF Prevent cross-site tracking
2.Allow access for other websites

- Go to Safari Settings
- Click Websites
- Set “For other websites” to Allow
After updating these settings, please refresh Safari
Unstoppable Mode
For moments when focus needs to be absolute, try Unstoppable Mode. This stricter option prevents any bypassing or disabling during sessions, even on breaks. Once started, there’s no turning back until your timer runs out.
If you close Focus Mode early, Site Blocker stays active until the session’s full duration ends.
To use it:
- Open Site Blocker.
- Click the 🛑 icon at the top.
- Choose how long you want to stay unstoppable.
- Press ▶️ Start.
Available in both Focus Mode and the standalone app.
Blocking settings during sessions
During active sessions, you can only add new sites, not disable or delete existing ones.
You’ll get a 5-minute grace period at the start of Focus Mode to review or adjust your block lists before they lock in.
Block sites during breaks
If breaks tend to lead you off track, you can now block distracting sites even during breaks.
To enable it:
- Click the ••• button in Site Blocker.
- Toggle Block sites during breaks on.
Tips and Troubleshooting
-
When a site isn’t blocking
