Instead of juggling multiple tools or trying to remember everything, Tasks gives you one place to plan your day, organize your priorities, and keep things moving forward. Whether it's a quick to-do or a bigger project, everything stays clear and easy to act on.
đĄ Tasks v2 gives you more ways to stay organized. Create custom lists, add due dates and subtasks, and switch between views like Today and Upcoming. Quick hover actions and the âĸâĸâĸ menu help you work faster with less clicking.
âšī¸ Tasks v2 is rolling out to everyone. If it hasn't reached your account yet, you can switch early using the banner in Tasks. If anything looks off after switching, reach out to our support team.
How Tasks is organized
Your tasks live in a list, either your Inbox or a custom list you create. On top of that, Tasks gives you automatic views: Today and Upcoming gather tasks by their due date, and Completed collects what you've finished. You don't move tasks into those views, they appear there on their own based on the due date.
For everything about lists, views, and sorting, see Lists and views.
Add and complete tasks
Quickly capture tasks so nothing slips through the cracks.
- Click Tasks at the bottom right.
- Type your task.
- Press Enter.
To complete a task, click its checkbox. Click again to bring it back.
Open and edit task details
Turn simple tasks into clear plans. Click any task to open it. From the task view, you can:
- Edit the task name.
- Add or change a date.
- Add subtasks using + New subtask.
You can also click the Date and Subtask icons at the bottom of the task view to quickly update details.
Reorder and nest with drag and drop
Drag and drop lets you reshape your list as your priorities change:
- Reorder: drag a task up or down to change its order.
- Make a subtask: drag a task onto another task to nest it underneath.
- Promote a subtask: drag a subtask out from under its task to make it a task of its own again.
While you're dragging over a collapsed task, it opens automatically so you can drop the item inside.
đĄ Drag-and-drop ordering isn't available when a list is sorted by date, since date decides the order. Turn off date sorting to arrange tasks by hand.
Expand the Tasks panel
Need more room? Click Expand (top right) for a larger view with a sidebar of all your lists. Click it again to return to the compact view. The expanded view is the easiest place to drag tasks between lists, see Lists and views.
