Momentum's Sounds help you settle into focus or unwind, whatever the moment calls for. Choose from a crackling campfire, an ambient café, a peaceful garden, and other calming scenes to set the mood while you work.

💡 Tip: Not a Plus subscriber yet? You can try Sounds for free during the limited Focus Mode session included with the free version of Momentum.
Starting a sound
- Open :settings-2: Settings, go to General, and enable Sounds.
- Click the :music: sound icon at the top left of Momentum.
- Choose a sound to start listening.
Adjusting volume settings
Fine-tune your Sounds so it sits exactly where you want it in the background.
- To change the volume, use the volume icon :volume-2: beside the Sounds and drag the slider.
- To mute a sound completely, click its speaker icon :volume-2:
Creating a Custom sound
Mix your own combination from Momentum's full sound library to build the exact atmosphere you want.
- Click Custom under Sounds :music:
- Click a sound icon to play it and add it to your mix.
- Adjust each sound's volume using the slider below its icon.
- Add as many sounds as you like.
- To start over, click the ••• menu in the top right and select Reset.
Adding tracks from Spotify and YouTube
Bring your own music into the mix by adding tracks or playlists from Spotify or YouTube.
Adding a track from Spotify
- In Spotify, click the ••• icon next to a track or playlist, then go to Share → Copy Link.
- In Momentum's Sounds app, click the + icon in the top right.
- Paste the link into the field.
Momentum detects the link, adds the track, and starts playing it. You'll need to be logged into Spotify in your browser; no paid plan is required.
🔒 Note: Momentum never has access to your Spotify login or account data. All authentication happens directly through Spotify.
Adding a track from YouTube
- Copy the URL of any YouTube video or playlist.
- In the Sounds app, click the + icon and paste the link.
💡 Tip: For playlists, copy the link from the playlist's homepage rather than from a video inside it.
Removing a track
To remove a track from your custom sound setup:
- From the dashboard view, click Sounds :music: and select the track you want to remove.
- Click the ••• menu, then select Delete.

- Play or pause the current sound: Press the Spacebar (works on both macOS and Windows).

Q: Can I create my own sounds?
A: Yes! Click the Custom sound option to mix and match from our library. You can adjust individual volumes and save your favorite blends.
Q: Do I need a Spotify account to use Spotify integration?
A: You do need to be logged into Spotify in your browser to play full tracks, but you don't need a paid account.
Q: What happens if I close the tab or browser?
A: Your selected sound will stop playing, but your custom sounds and settings are saved! When you reopen Momentum, you can pick up right where you left off.
Q: Do I need a Plus subscription to use Sounds?
A: Yes. Sounds is a Momentum Plus feature. If you're not a Plus member yet, you can upgrade anytime to start enjoying calming sounds and all the other premium tools.
Q: Will Sounds keep playing when I switch tabs?
A: Yes. As long as your Momentum tab stays open in your browser, your selected sound will continue playing, even if you're working in another tab.
