Capture ideas, write journals, organize information, and connect related thoughts without leaving your Momentum dashboard.
Notes gives you a dedicated space for everything from quick reminders and daily reflections to book summaries and detailed projects. You can format your writing, search your notes, connect related notes, and use AI tools to improve or expand your content.
Create, edit, and delete notes
Create a note
To create a note:
- Open Notes from your dashboard.
- Click New Note or the + icon in the top-right corner of the Notes panel.
- Start typing.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut:

Edit a note
To edit a note:
- Open the note you want to update.
- Click anywhere inside the note.
- Start typing.
Your changes are saved automatically.
Delete a note
To delete a note:
- Open the note you want to remove.
- Click the Trash icon.
- Confirm the deletion.
Deleted notes are moved to the Deleted folder and are permanently removed after two weeks.
To view deleted notes:
- Click the More (...) menu at the top of the sidebar.
- Select Deleted.
Add a note title
The first line of a note becomes its title in the sidebar.
If you don't add a title, Momentum displays part of the note's content instead.
💡 Tip
Add an emoji to a note title to make it easier to identify in the sidebar.
Format notes with rich text
Notes includes a rich-text toolbar that helps you structure and style your writing.
Select text or place your cursor inside the note, then choose a formatting option from the toolbar.
Available options include:
- Headings
- Bold
- Italic
- Underline
- Strikethrough
- Highlight
- Bulleted and numbered lists
- Block quotes
- Code
- Horizontal lines
- Links
Use formatting shortcuts
Use these keyboard shortcuts to format your writing without opening the toolbar.
To add a link, select the text and use the shortcut. You can also paste a URL directly into the note.
Using hotkeys
Hotkeys let you open, create, search, and format notes without using the toolbar.

Format notes with Markdown
Notes supports Markdown-style formatting so you can structure your writing while typing.

Use hash symbols to create headings. More hash symbols create smaller heading levels.

Searching Notes
Search helps you find notes using words or phrases from their content.
To search your notes:
- Click the More (
...) menu in the top-right corner of Notes. - Select Search.
- Enter your search term.

Link notes together
Create two-way links between related notes to organize and navigate your information.
To link to another note:
- Type
[[inside a note. - Select an existing note or create a new one.
The connection appears in both notes, making it easier to move between related information.
💡 Tip
Create a main note that links to your most important notes. This can help keep your sidebar organized as your collection grows.
Use full-screen mode
Full-screen mode gives you more space for focused writing.
To enter full-screen mode, click the Expand icon in the top-right corner of Notes.
To exit full-screen mode, click the Collapse icon.
Momentum remembers your full-screen preference the next time you open Notes.
Show or hide the sidebar
The sidebar lets you move between your notes.
To show or hide it, click the Arrow icon in the top-left corner of Notes.
Write with AI
Notes includes AI tools that can help you summarize, simplify, expand, proofread, or improve your writing.
To use AI with selected text:
- Highlight the text you want to update.
- Click the Sparkle icon in the toolbar.
- Choose an action.
- Review the suggestion.
- Apply the changes you want to keep.
To use AI with an entire note:
- Click the AI button at the top of the note.
- Choose an action such as Summarize, Simplify, Expand, or Proofread.
- Review the suggestion.
- Apply the changes if you want to keep them.
AI suggestions don't replace your original writing until you choose to apply them.
