Keep your favorite websites within easy reach with the Bookmarks Bar. It brings your browser's saved bookmarks directly to your Momentum dashboard, so you can quickly access the sites you use most.
The Bookmarks Bar stays in sync with your browser, so changes you make to your browser bookmarks automatically appear in Momentum.
💡 Tip: Keep your most-used sites on the Bookmarks Bar for quick access whenever you open a new tab.
Show or hide the Bookmarks Bar
Turn on the Bookmarks Bar to display your browser's saved bookmarks at the top of your Momentum dashboard.
- Open Settings :settings-2:.
- Go to General.
- Under Apps, find Bookmarks Bar.
- Turn Bookmarks Bar on.
- When prompted, click Allow to give Momentum permission to access your browser's bookmarks.
Your bookmarks will appear on your dashboard right away.
To hide the Bookmarks Bar, return to Settings :settings-2: and turn Bookmarks Bar off.
💡 Your bookmarks stay safe: Turning off the Bookmarks Bar only hides them from your Momentum dashboard. Your bookmarks remain saved in your browser.
Choose what appears on the Bookmarks Bar
Choose what appears on your Bookmarks Bar
- Open Settings :settings-2:. > Scroll to Links and Bookmarks Bar.
- From the Bookmarks Bar section, adjust the options to match your workflow.
Changes apply immediately.
- Icons only - Hides bookmark titles for a cleaner, more compact look.
- Start in Top Sites - Automatically opens the Most Visited folder when you open a new tab.
- Show Top Sites - Adds a Most Visited folder to the far left of the Bookmarks Bar.
- Show Bookmarks Manager - Adds a shortcut to your browser's bookmarks manager.
- Show Other Bookmarks - Displays your Other Bookmarks folder on the far right of the Bookmarks Bar.
Choose where to show the Chrome tab shortcut
Use Show Chrome Tab to choose where the shortcut for opening a standard Chrome tab appears.
Choose:
- Links to add the shortcut inside the Links panel.
- Bookmarks to add the shortcut directly to the Bookmarks Bar.
- Dash to display a Chrome shortcut on your dashboard.
- None to hide the shortcut.
Open links in a new tab
By default, selecting a link or bookmark opens it in your current browser tab. You can choose to always open links in a new tab instead.
- Open Settings :settings-2:.
- Go to Bookmarks Bar.
- Turn Open links in new tab on.
💡 Good to know: This setting also applies to links opened from Links and Launchpad.
Manage your bookmarks
Momentum mirrors the bookmarks saved in your browser. To add, remove, rename, or reorganize bookmarks, make your changes directly in your browser.
Your changes will automatically sync to Momentum.

💡 You don't need to refresh or restart Momentum after making changes. Your browser bookmark changes sync automatically.
Troubleshoot the Bookmarks Bar
Bookmarks aren't appearing
If your bookmarks don't appear after turning on the Bookmarks Bar:
- Make sure you clicked Allow when Momentum requested permission to access your bookmarks.
- If you missed the prompt, open Settings :settings-2:.
- Turn Bookmarks Bar off, then turn it back on.
- Click Allow when prompted.
Bookmark changes aren't appearing
If you've updated your bookmarks in your browser but don't see the changes in Momentum:
- Open a new tab and check the Bookmarks Bar again.
- If the changes still don't appear, open Settings :settings-2:.
- Turn Bookmarks Bar off and back on to start a fresh sync.
Two bookmarks bars are showing
If you see two bookmarks bars, both Momentum's Bookmarks Bar and your browser's built-in bookmarks bar may be visible.
You can hide your browser's bookmarks bar while keeping Momentum's Bookmarks Bar visible.

Press Cmd + Shift + B on Mac or Ctrl + Shift + B on Windows.
Firefox
Right-click the Library icon in the top-right corner of your browser, then turn off Bookmarks Toolbar.

Q: Why don't I see my bookmarks after enabling the bar?
A: Make sure you clicked Allow when prompted during setup. Momentum needs permission to read your browser's bookmarks. If you missed that step, toggle the Bookmarks Bar off and back on in Settings to trigger the permission prompt again.
Q: Can I add or edit bookmarks from inside Momentum?
A: Bookmarks are read-only inside Momentum. To add, remove, or reorganize them, make changes directly in your browser and they'll sync to Momentum automatically.
Q: Will disabling the Bookmarks Bar delete my bookmarks?
A: No. Disabling the Bookmarks Bar only hides it from your dashboard. Your bookmarks remain saved in your browser and will reappear if you re-enable the bar.
Q: My bookmarks changed in the browser but haven't updated in Momentum yet. What should I do?
A: Try opening a new tab. If the update still hasn't appeared, toggle the Bookmarks Bar off and back on in Settings to prompt a fresh sync.
Q: Why do I see two bookmarks bars?
A: This happens when both Momentum's Bookmarks Bar and your browser's built-in bookmarks bar are visible at the same time. This is expected if both are enabled. To resolve it, hide your browser's native bookmarks bar.
