Turn ideas into action without leaving your Momentum dashboard. With Ask AI :momentum-ask-ai: you can brainstorm ideas, draft content, summarize information, solve problems, and get help with everyday questions while staying focused in Momentum.

Use Ask AI directly from your dashboard for quick questions, or access AI tools within Notes when you're working with written content.

Turn Ask AI on or off

Choose whether Ask AI is available from the center search bar on your dashboard.

Open Settings :settings-2:.
Go to General.
Under Apps, find Ask AI.
Turn Ask AI on or off.

💡 Using Ask AI in Notes? This setting only controls Ask AI's availability from the center search bar. The AI tools in Notes remain available when this setting is turned off.

Use Ask AI from the center search bar

Ask quick questions or start a new prompt directly from the center of your dashboard.

First, make sure Search & links is displayed below the center.

Open Settings :settings-2:.
Scroll to Below the center.
Turn the section on.
Select Search & links.

Then, start your Ask AI prompt:

Enter your prompt in the center search bar.
Press Cmd + Enter on Mac or Ctrl + Enter on Windows.

Your prompt opens in the Ask AI panel, where you can view the response and continue working with it.

💡 Try asking: Ask AI can help you brainstorm ideas, draft content, summarize information, create outlines, or work through a question.

Use Ask AI in Notes

Ask AI is also available directly from the toolbar in Notes, giving you AI writing tools while you're working on a note.

You can use it to:

Fix spelling.
Summarize your note.
Generate an outline.
Translate content into another language.
Get help developing or refining your writing.

💡 Turning off Ask AI under Settings :settings-2: doesn't turn off the AI tools available in Notes.

Manage Ask AI

Once the Ask AI panel is open, you can adjust your workspace and refine the responses you receive.

Adjust the Ask AI panel

Customize the Ask AI panel to give yourself more space or keep your chat history within reach.

Show or hide the sidebar

Click the sidebar icon :panel-left: in the top-left corner of the Ask AI panel to hide the sidebar and give your conversation more space.

Click the same icon again to show the sidebar.

💡 Tip: The sidebar gives you quick access to your Ask AI chats. Hide it when you want more room to focus on your current conversation.

Enter or exit fullscreen

Click the Fullscreen icon :maximize-2: in the top-right corner of the Ask AI panel to expand Ask AI across your dashboard.

Click the Exit fullscreen icon :minimize-2: to exit fullscreen and return to the standard view

Retry a response

Want a different response to the same prompt? You can ask Ask AI to generate another response without retyping your question.

Find the Ask AI response you want to try again.
Click the retry icon :rotate-cw: at the end of the response.

Ask AI will generate a new response to the same prompt.

💡 Tip: Use Retry when you want Ask AI to take another approach or give you a different result without changing your original prompt.

Edit a prompt

Refine a prompt you've already submitted without starting over.

Find the prompt you want to change.
Click the pencil icon :pencil:
Update your prompt.
Click enter to submit.

Ask AI will respond to your updated prompt.

Delete an Ask AI chat

Remove conversations you no longer need from the Ask AI panel.

Select the chat from the history sidebar.
Click the trash icon :trash: in the upper-right corner.
Click Yes to confirm.

⚠️ Deleted chats can't be restored. Make sure you no longer need the conversation before deleting it.

Pro tips & keyboard shortcuts

Press A to quickly open the Ask AI panel.
Use Cmd + Enter on Mac or Ctrl + Enter on Windows to submit an Ask AI prompt from the center search bar.
Hide the sidebar or switch to full screen when you want more room to work.

Q: Is my Ask AI chat history saved?

A: Chat history isn't saved yet. We're working on bringing this to Ask AI in a future update.

Q: Can I delete an Ask AI conversation?

A: Yes. Select the chat from your history sidebar, click the trash icon in the upper right, and confirm. Once deleted, a chat can't be restored.

Q: Do I need Momentum Plus to use Ask AI?

A: Yes. Ask AI is available exclusively to Momentum Plus members.
